More than 50 acres of easily accessible parks and natural acreage are not the only green space residents can enjoy at New Longview. Tree-lined boulevards, walking and biking paths, and trails wind through New Longview’s historic and picturesque landscaped terrain and feature an operational Longview Mansion as a backdrop.
REDBUCK PARK - Named for one of R.A. Long’s favorite standard-bred horses, it’s not uncommon to view kids at play on the mulched bed playscape, kicking a ball in the open fields, or playing a friendly game of catch in this community gathering area. These same children will also enjoy a swim in the new zero entry competition size swimming pool with cabana opening in the summer of 2008. Future plans also include a tennis court.
PERGOLA LAKE - Ninety years ago the 120’ Longview Pergola provided an exotic, covered terrace where the Long family and guests picnicked, docked their rowboats on the shore of a private 20 acre lake, or strolled through the lily ponds on hot summer evenings while listening to musicians. Now, neighbors can also enjoy evening strolls along this same Pergola and lake, or north on Longview Boulevard to visit the local sandwich Shoppe and a glass of wine while checking out today’s live entertainment at JP Coffee. Other Shoppe’s include Salon Aloe, Fitness Together, Kids To Leaders, and CVS Pharmacy with a health clinic on site. Be sure to also watch for The RA Long Sawmill Restaurant which will also be opening during the summer of 2008.
Located just west and in New Longview’s backyard sits the 5,000 acre Longview Lake Park, just a short hike or bike ride away. The park contains a large number of recreational features including:
